Off to Sleep Strong

Frequently asked

Questions we hear a lot.

And our honest answers. If what you're wondering isn't here, reach out — we'll answer and probably add it to this page.

About the community

What exactly do I get with a membership?

Four things:

  1. A searchable library of expert sleep content, organized by your baby's age and situation
  2. A private community on Circle where you can post questions, search past conversations, and connect with other parents in the same stage
  3. Weekly live office hours with us — ask your question live, or learn from other parents' questions
  4. A personal dashboard that shows what's relevant right now based on your baby's age, plus upcoming regressions or transitions
Who are Lindsay and Aly?

The founders of Off to Sleep Strong. We've worked 1:1 with hundreds of families over the past [X years] and built the community to scale that support to more parents, more affordably, for longer than a single engagement.

How active are you in the community?

Every day. We read posts daily, respond within 24 hours to any direct question, and show up live every week for office hours. This isn't a dormant Facebook group — it's how we spend most of our working time.

Is the community moderated?

Yes. Off-topic, unkind, or advice-giving-without-context posts get gently redirected. The community is a place for questions and support, not for armchair parenting advice between members.

About the methodology

What method of sleep training do you teach?

Two primary methods: Check and Console (our most common recommendation — parent leaves the room and checks in on a timer if baby is still crying) and Shh/Pat (gentler, parent-present). For toddlers in a big-kid bed, we teach the Chair Method (parent sits in a chair in the toddler's room, gradually moving toward the door over several nights).

We don't teach full extinction / cry-it-out. We believe in check-ins and comfort.

Will my baby have to cry?

Usually, yes — some. The first few nights of any behavioral sleep change typically include protest crying. It's usually brief, peaks in the first 1–3 nights, and decreases quickly as your baby adjusts. It's not harmful.

If even a few minutes of crying is intolerable for you, the Shh/Pat method is gentler and we'll work with you on a custom approach.

What age can I start?

We start full sleep training at 16 weeks (4 months) when most babies are developmentally ready. For younger babies, we teach gentle shaping — sleep environment, routine, awake-drowsy drops — that sets the foundation without formal training.

The community is built for babies and toddlers, with content and support for every age and stage.

Does this work for breastfed babies? Bottle-fed babies? Combo?

All three. The methodology isn't tied to feeding method. The specifics of overnight feeding do vary (duration vs. ounces, timing of the feed phase-out) and we cover each in the content library.

What if my baby has medical issues?

Our methodology is behavioral, not medical. We work alongside your pediatrician, never instead. Many medical situations — reflux, mild developmental delays, food allergies — are compatible with our approach with some modifications. A few (severe medical conditions) require us to defer to your medical team. Always talk to your pediatrician first.

The community has a mobile app (via Circle) for iPhone and Android. The main site and content library are mobile-optimized browser — no app needed.

About 1:1 consulting

For people who found us through the 1:1 work.

Are you still doing 1:1 consulting?

Yes. 1:1 work is unchanged — same process, same plans, same week of texts and calls. The community is a separate, lower-cost product for ongoing support.

How do I know whether to do 1:1 or the community?

If you're in a sleep crisis and need a customized plan right now: 1:1 is probably the fastest path. If you're past the crisis and want ongoing support, or you want expert methodology without the 1:1 price tag: community.

Many families do both. Our community members get first access to 1:1 scheduling when slots open.

Past clients — do we get a discount?

If you've worked with us 1:1 before, please reach out before launch — we're setting up a founding-member program for past clients and close friends.
